A Peridontist is a dentist who specialises in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. They are also expertsin the surgical placement of dental implants, bone grafts, and intraoral plastic surgery.
Periodontists are required to undertake an additional three years of training following dental school in order to advance their knowledge and skills. They often manage the most advanced and complex cases and work in closely with your dentist to provide you with the highest level of care. A periodontists scope of practice includes the following:
Surgical and Non-srugical management of periodontal disease
Surgical Placement of dental implant
Repair and Maintenance of dental implants
Management of gum recession
Bone grafts
Soft-tissue grafts

Your initial visit with Dr. Raveendiran or Dr. Joesph will be a consultation appointment and will generally last between 30-60 minutes. During this visit we will review your medical and dental history, as well as conduct a full periodontal assessment of your mouth. This included oral cancer screening, assement of your bite, as well as examination for bleeding gums, bone loss and loose teeth.
The result of these assessments will be explained in depth you at the initial visit, and a detailed treatment plan will be outlined. A report will also be written and provided to your dentist. Occasionally further diagnostics will be required before a final treatment plan can be established, and a second consultation/planning appointment will be required.
To assist us with your initial visit with us, please bring the following information with you to your appointment:
A letter from you referring dentist or specialist (Some dentists will supply us with this directly). If you are referring yourself, a referral is not rquired
Recent xray or scans. Similar to referral, this may sometimes be provided to us directly from your dentitst.
List of medications you are currently taking
Our Patient Information Form. This will have been mailed/emailed to your prior to your first appointment. Alternatively, this can be completed online, via clicking on the link.

Gum Doctors is open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
Your required appointments will be made as soon as possible, at your desired convenience. If an emergency, or you are in pain, please let our receptionists know and every attempt will be made to see you as soon as possible.
We always attempt to run on time, and minimise any extended waiting periods. However, on occasions, appointments may take longer than anticipated, or medical emergencies may arise. Our staff will make every effort to communicate with you, to minimise any inconvenience. Your understanding and patience is greatly appreciated.

Each individual is unique, as such so is their treatment plan. The fee for periodontal management can vary depending on the nature and complexity of the problem. Once the initial consultation has been complete, Dr. Raveendiran or Dr. Lee will be able to provide you with a step by step, detailed treatment plan. You will be informed of all costs, as well as appropriate item numbers required for your health fund.
